LAHORE – Several international exams, including Cambridge O Level, IGCSE, and A Level tests from Cambridge International, Edexcel, and OxfordAQA, have been cancelled or postponed in parts of Pakistan due to security concerns. The exam boards made these decisions to ensure the safety of students and staff.

Cambridge International and the British Council announced on Thursday that all exams scheduled for Friday, May 9, 2025, have been postponed in Punjab, Islamabad, Muzaffarabad, and Mirpur. This decision was taken after a review of the current security situation in these regions, where student safety was prioritized.

In Lahore, parents were notified early Friday morning about the cancellation of all afternoon session exams, including those from Cambridge, Edexcel, and OxfordAQA. Parents were advised not to send their children to exam centers for the scheduled tests in Lahore. The cancellation affects these boards, while other exams are still being held on their original dates.

Cambridge also confirmed that exams in other parts of Pakistan will continue as planned if the security situation remains stable. Students who miss exams will be graded fairly, with Cambridge using their established grading methods to ensure academic progress is not disrupted.

The Punjab government has also announced a two-day closure of all schools, both public and private, on May 9 and 10. This includes the postponement of practical exams scheduled for these dates, with new dates to be announced soon.

However, exams from other boards—except for Cambridge, Edexcel, and OxfordAQA—will take place on their original dates as planned.

Students and parents are encouraged to check official websites and social media pages of Cambridge International and the British Council Pakistan for real-time updates regarding exam cancellations and rescheduling. Those with questions should reach out to their schools or the British Council for further guidance.
